MACHINE LANGUAGE

Known internationally for his improvised laptop performances with groups like The Peter Evans Quintet and Rocket Science (with Evan Parker, Craig Taborn, and Peter Evans), composer/improviser Sam Pluta continues his virtuosic combination of instruments and electronics on Machine Language, an album of electro-acoustic compositions written for and recorded by some of the finest new music ensembles and performers in New York City. From the driving rhythms of the opening title track to meditative resonances of Lyra to the microtonal screams of 7:6, this unrelenting and sonically saturated solo debut reveals the unique compositional language of one of the most compelling electronics performers of his generation. Machine Language follows up Pluta's March 2011 release, sum and difference, a collaborative improvised album with instrumentalists Jim Altieri and Peter Evans.
